What Is Injustice?

Injustice

  • unfair treatment
  • the rights of a person or a group of people are ignored
  • absence of fairness
  • violation of right or of the rights of another
  • unfairness
  • an unjust act
  • a wrongful act

Ezekiel 9.9-10

"Then he said to me, “The sins of the people of Israel and Judah are very, very great. The entire land is full of murder; the city is filled with injustice. They are saying, ‘The Lord doesn’t see it! The Lord has abandoned the land!’

So I will not spare them or have any pity on them. I will fully repay them for all they have done.”

It is a lie to say that GOD does not see what is going on...He does.

Job 35.14 "You say you can’t see him,
but He will bring justice if you will only wait."

That is hard to do. But we must wait.

There is an amazing scripture we need to look at...it explains why injustice, sin and unrighteousness continue to flourish.

This verse gives great comfort ...

Ecclesiastes 8.11 NLT version:

"When a crime is not punished quickly, people feel it is safe to do wrong."

KJV "Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil."

GOD will take care of it - the issue we struggle with is GOD's timing!

GOD lets it all run its course, then He judges. Sometimes like Ananias and Sapphira it is much quicker...

2 Chronicles 19.7

"Fear the Lord and judge with integrity, for the Lord our God does not tolerate

  • perverted justice,
  • partiality,
  • or the taking of bribes."
  • Trust GOD to do what He says!

Job 36.6 "He does not let the wicked live but gives justice to the afflicted."

BUT here is our problem...

vs 17 "But you are obsessed with whether the godless will be judged.
Don’t worry, judgment and justice will be upheld." This is GOD speaking...

See where our focus is? Let's stop this nonsense immediately! GOD is in complete control, no matter who tries to tell you otherwise...

It all goes back to what tree we plug into.

We have the freedom to choose GOD information out of the Bible, or the wisdom of the world - which is serpent inspired. We know that most of the world do not have or have ignored their free access to GOD's wisdom through Jesus Christ, so we are not to judge them, or worry about GOD taking care of the sin problem with each of them - our sole concern should be our own "spiritual heart" and our obedience to the word and the Holy Spirit of GOD each and every day.

How should we act when we are victims of injustice?

Matthew 5.39-45 has a lot to share with us on this problem...this is powerful stuff!

"But I say, do not resist an evil person!

Jesus arrested in Gethsemane.

No problem...He did not resist!

"If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also."

"If you are sued in court and your shirt is taken from you, give your coat, too."

"If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile, carry it two miles."

"Give to those who ask, and don’t turn away from those who want to borrow."

"You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy.

"But I say, love your enemies!"

"Pray for those who persecute you!"

In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.

Are we getting the picture?

Let's look at 1 Peter 2.19-25

"For God is pleased with you when you do what you know is right and patiently endure unfair treatment.

"Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. But if you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you.

"For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

"He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone.

"He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered.
He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.

"He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.

"Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls."
