The Rejected Cornerstone tells us that everyone will be affected by GOD, either willingly now, or in the future judgment.
If GOD be for us, it doesn't matter who is against us; IF GOD is against us, it doesn't matter who is for us!
If this special block is not exactly right, the entire building will be "out of line".
IF our lives are not built on the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, then our foundation is of no value and will be rejected...
"Then Jesus asked them, “Didn’t you ever read this in the Scriptures? ‘The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone. This is the Lord’s doing, and it is wonderful to see.’
43 I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit.
44 Anyone who stumbles over that stone will be broken to pieces, and it will crush anyone it falls on.”
45 When the leading priests and Pharisees heard this parable, they realized he was telling the story against them—they were the wicked farmers.
"Therefore thus says the Lord God, Behold, I am laying in Zion for a foundation a Stone, a tested Stone, a precious and sure foundation; he who believes (trusts in, relies on, and adheres to that Stone) will not be ashamed or give way or hasten away [in sudden panic]."
This is the key stone in the center of an arch or a foundation stone which is
the first stone laid in constructing a building. Every stone takes its place in relationship to it. If it is in the wrong place, the wrong size, or incorrectly set - then all the building shall be in error.
Parables are powerful "word-pictures" that are meant to be engrafted into our thinking...as mental pictures do control our thought-life.
That's where the "imagination" gets involved. The imagination allows mental exploration of the past, present, future. It is the ability to see pictures and images in the "movie theater" of the mind. The imagination is the "workshop" of the human mind. It is the only thing in the world we have complete control over. That's why GOD takes great interest of what goes on there, and judges what we allow to grow there - Genesis 6.5
How the Pharisees hated to hear these words...
" I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit."
This special stone is the plumb-line or measurement from which every other stone is set.
1 Peter 2.6-8 "As the Scriptures say,“I am placing a cornerstone in Jerusalem,
7 Yes, you who trust him recognize the honor God has given him. But for those who reject him, “The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.”
8 And, “He is the stone that makes people stumble, the rock that makes them fall.”
They stumble because they do not obey God’s word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them.
The rejected One Himself becomes our "foundation stone"!
