The Parable of the
Spontaneous Growth

Spontaneous Growth:

Mark 4.26-29

Jesus also said, “The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground.

"Night and day, while he’s asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows,  but he does not understand how it happens.

"The earth produces the crops on its own. First a leaf blade pushes through, then the heads of wheat are formed, and finally the grain ripens.

"And as soon as the grain is ready, the farmer comes and harvests it with a sickle, for the harvest time has come.”

  • The "imagination" is a whole world inside the mind...

Parables are powerful "word-pictures" that are meant to be engrafted into our thinking...as mental pictures do control our thought-life.

That's where the "imagination" gets involved. The imagination allows mental exploration of the past, present, future. It is the ability to see pictures and images in the "movie theater" of the mind. The imagination is the "workshop" of the human mind. It is the only thing in the world we have complete control over. That's why GOD takes great interest of what goes on there, and judges what we allow to grow there - Genesis 6.5

The secret of growth is that "only GOD gives the increase"

1 Corinthians 3.6-8 "I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.

7 It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.

8 The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work.

  • The Kingdom of GOD is a mysterious process of "inherent", or built-in forces
  • The two ingredients are (a) sowing and (b) harvest
  • We must be patient and be content to let these two forces do their inherent job
  • The greatest power is "invisible"
  • The germinating seed quickens into a "cycle of life."

Lamentations 2.26

"So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord."

  • We are destined to greatness through orderly development

GOD created the growth principle

Genesis 2.9 "The Lord God made all sorts of trees grow up from the ground—trees that were beautiful and that produced delicious fruit..."

Spontaneous Growth...

  • The soil provides the elements required to nourish the seed

  • The seed gives the soil its opportunity to do its thing

  • The blade reveals that the growth process is in progress!

Mark 4.27

  • "Night and day, while he’s asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens."

GOD's secret spontaneous growth system stops us from meddling with the process...because we probably would, if we could!
