What is "sloth" or a "slothful" person?

• reluctance to work or make an effort;
  
• laziness.
• complacency
• idleness
• sluggishness
• shiftlessness
• they start - and never finish, or follow through
• he leaves the work of completion to others

Ruth shows us what "diligence" is...

Ruth 2.17

"So Ruth gathered barley there all day, and when she beat out the grain that evening, it filled an entire basket"

• Ruth not only "gathered the barley" all day
• she also "beat out the grain" that evening

Ruth did the whole job!

So should we...

What are the rewards of "diligence"

The child of GOD being diligent, finds "substance" in the Lord

Psalms 39.6-7

"We are merely moving shadows,
    and all our busy rushing ends in nothing.
We heap up wealth,
    not knowing who will spend it.
7 And so, Lord, where do I put my hope?
    My only hope is in you.

Do we have any part in deserving this? No. Far from it.

Ephesians 1.11

"Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.

Hebrews 10.34

"You suffered along with those who were thrown into jail, and when all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever."
