"Word Pictures" for Our Imagination

Saturday, August 23rd

Today's Daily Verse is found in Proverbs 23.12

"Apply your heart to instruction, And your ears to the words of knowledge."

The instruction and knowledge of GOD is information that GOD's system provides.

There is good information, and bad information.

The source is the difference... which means - where does the information originate from? Who is speaking? What is their agenda? Why are they saying what they are saying? What is their plan?

What GOD says can be trusted.

His information, which is found in the scriptures, has the power to establish GOD wisdom in our life.

Jeremiah 15.16

"Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts"

We have all met people that we couldn't believe a word they say.

They always lie and deceive, and their words have the power of entrapment and destruction of everything that is good and pure.

  • If we want legal advice and knowledge, we go to an attorney
  • If we want health advice and discernment, we contact our doctor, or dentist

Does it not make sense, that if we want GOD knowledge, then we go to the book based on truth and empowerment by the Holy Spirit of GOD.

So, the source of the information is compelling...

Why would we want to continue getting "our marching orders" from this source?

Is it not obvious where this source of information leads us to?

We choose where we get our knowledge from and we have to live with the built-in consequences and results of that choice.

We are not talking about academic learning here. Academic study has its place in the learning community. What we are speaking about is "information" that we build into our thought-life, out of which decisions, and actions are birthed, either to that which is pleasing to GOD, or that which defies Him and His plan for our lives.

Many will not "do" certain things because they fear the consequences, but they are still rebellious and defiant "on the inside"...

Here lies the value of the Bible, as the one source of instruction, and the alone "treasure-house" of the "words of knowledge."

What do the words of knowledge bring to us...

GOD's word, if we allow it to transform our thought-life will bring and establish in each one of us the following :

  1. We will receive the knowledge of GOD
  • the way GOD thinks - Proverbs 1.4

     2. We will receive discretion -

  • the ability of being careful about what we do or say - Proverbs 1.4
  • Here is where actions and words are carefully processed and thought through.
  • Indiscretion is acting "foolishly", by impulse

     3. We will be able to interpret parables and proverbs- Proverbs 1.6

  • This is by being a teachable hearer.
  • We must hear what GOD is saying, and see what GOD wants us to see.
  • The parables and proverbs have treasure "hidden" - under the surface, out of sight - so only men and women of understanding know what the people are to do.

     4. The "fear of the Lord" will be activated in our life.

  • The fear of the Lord is when we understand that the Holy Spirit of GOD is sitting in the "movie theater" of our mind 24 hours a day, and sees every movie we play in our head.
  • This is where GOD sees and knows the "intents of the heart" - which is located between our ears. - Proverbs 1.7

     5. The ability to receive instruction will be given to us - GOD alone can make our heart "soft" and pliable...

  • Jeremiah 35.8-10 "So we have obeyed him in all these things. We have never had a drink of wine to this day, nor have our wives, our sons, or our daughters. 9 We haven’t built houses or owned vineyards or farms or planted crops. 10 We have lived in tents and have fully obeyed all the commands of Jehonadab, our ancestor.
  • verses 18-19 "Then Jeremiah turned to the Recabites and said, “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘You have obeyed your ancestor Jehonadab in every respect, following all his instructions.’ 19 Therefore, this is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Jehonadab son of Recab will always have descendants who serve me.’”

Authority is softened by tenderness: only GOD can make the heart soft and open the thought-life -

  • Job 23.16 "For God makes my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me:
  • Acts 16.14 "One of them was Lydia from Thyatira, a merchant of expensive purple cloth, who worshiped God. As she listened to us, the Lord opened her heart, and she accepted what Paul was saying."

I am just sharing the first five power results that come when we diligently seek to have GOD and His word transform our thinking...

I will share another five tomorrow, and then daily - until I give all 44 for your consideration. These are directly out of my book... "Wisdom Power" 1995
